Napkin Ring Flower CUSTOM

I decided to make some napkin rings for no reason really. I'm at my parents house and my mom had some yellow cotton yarn so I made them in yellow. My aunt was here too and was excited because her kitchen colors are yellow. So I made 6 napkin rings and set them on the table and then thought, "wow, that looks like a flower!". So I called my sister over and we thought for a moment on how to package the rings to look like a flower. She suggested a bowl idea. Well, I ran with the idea and came up with this really cool set! This particular set went to my aunt since her birthday was yesterday, but I'm offering these to made in custom colors for your home.

An Early Christmas

Getting the jump start on Christmas. Here is one of my crochet ball cover ornaments. There are 4 total up on Etsy and I have 5 more I'm waiting to post. The pictures didn't turn out well on those 5, so I'll have to retake them. I'm having a hard time with silver thread looking gold and silver ball looking gold and red thread glowing.

Baby girl outfit

Ok, so I still need to weave in the rest of the ends, but the crocheted baby girl outfit is done!

Forget what I said about size before, this is an 18 month outfit I'm pretty sure. Before I confirm the size, I need to try it on a little friend of mine first.

The makings of a cute baby girl outfit

Not sure what size it will end up. Supposed to be 6 months, but I usually crochet bigger than the size so I am using a smaller hook, but I think it might end up being smaller than 6 months. This is the top, there will be matching pants too.

Family Vacation

We had a whirlwind family tour these past two weeks and we really enjoyed our vacation. We went to Florida for J's grandparents 50th anniversary and visited his other grandfather as well. Then we headed up to North Carolina for a visit with my parents. They kept B while J and I had a nice 3 night trip to the beach @ Wilmington. Then back to my parents house for one more night to pick up B and on to J's parents in South Carolina where we had a goodbye party for his sister who is going to China for 2 years. We had a great time, but it sure is good to be home. Here are a few pics, we didn't take a whole lot.

updates

Well, we were rained out the first attempt at the handmade sale and ended up still making about $60 overall. We had a REDO Friday and did well, but only sold 3 handmade things I think.

We are still going though. We are planning another in October and already have one person who wants us to email her when we are having it!

In other news, we are still awaiting the word on the gender of our newest little one--we will be able to find out soon after the 4th. We tried to convince the doctor to let us find out before our upcoming trip, but he wouldn't!

We are going to be going on some much needed vacation. In addition to going to FL for Jonathan's grandparents' 50th anniversary party and SC for his sister's goodbye party (they will spend 2 years in China), we will also be going to NC to see my parents. And we will be dropping off little B with my parents and heading to Wilmington for some Mommy/Daddy alone time!

We love our little B, but we are so excited to have some much needed date and relaxation time.

Check back after our trip for pictures and an update on my little lima bean. :)

Oh, also, I have the possibility of some wholesale business coming for my Etsy site and I am really looking forward to seeing what comes of that!

My baby is ONE!

We celebrated B's birthday last Saturday at J's parents' lake house on Lake Keowee in South Carolina. His aunts and uncles, great-grandparents, and grandparents were all there (with a few exceptions). We had a great time. We also celebrated Aunt K's high school graduations (congratulations Auntie K!).
Here are some of the cute pics--they are in reverse order, watch B get cleaner! Mommy and Daddy forgot to take pictures of opening the presents, oops! We had a Winnie-the-Pooh theme of course.

Talladega fun

Jonathan and I had a friend from college and his wife come to stay with us this past weekend. They came for the Talladega Super Speedway spring NASCAR race.
I wasn't looking forward to going, but I really had a great time! We got to see some great action and it really was a fun experience despite having black seats (really heats up your buttercup!) and being squished like sardines in the hot stands.

Stroller Dayz

My friend Tommy took these pictures of Benjamin when we went to the Alabama Veterans Memorial and shopping at the Summit. Love those feet in the air.

Mad Libs "Superstitions"

Thanks to Laura for her answers!

Superstitions

When I was a kid 12 years ago, we used to believe in superstitions like it's bad luck to open a rug in the house, and if your candy itches, it means a flower is coming to visit, and you'll have yellow luck if you find a four-leaf-bus. And we believed that if you spilled pizza at the table, you had to throw some over your left truck, and if your pretty toe hurt, it meant rain, and if you broke a car you would have seven years of bad ducks. Today kids have different superstitions such as, it's bad luck to jump on the railroad tracks just before a nail pulls in, and don't throw rocks at policemen. But, actually, there's only one superstition I believe in. Whenever I comment on my health, I always remember to knock on a piece of envelope.

Hope you had fun!

Mad Lib Fun

Did y'all ever do those mad lib things where you fill in the words of a story without knowing what the story is? It's good for a laugh!
Give me the blanks:

I'll post the story if I get any comments. If I don't, then I guess I'll fill it in myself and have a good laugh to myself, haha.

My little lima bean

Went to the Dr. yesterday for our new little one. We got a great report. I measured 6 weeks 4 days and my due date is December 4th. We got to see the heart beat too! Here are our first pictures, you can't see much, but we are so happy!

Tulip

I've made another mini-monster, but she's not for sale! Thought I would post a picture of her anyway. I made Tulip for my sister-in-law for her birthday. She likes shopping and hanging out with her friends--Tulip that is. :) I also got some tags for my items (as seen in the pictures). I handwrote the tag and used my stamp that MidTownTees made for me. I think it all turned out pretty good.

(You know it's bad when you have to copy parts of the carpet in the pic to cover over the stains and dirt on your carpet!! Sigh.)

Woohoo! and Yikes!

We are expecting! :)
Due date should be December 3rd. We'll see what the Dr. says when we go.
Very excited and a little bit freaking out at the same time. B will be about 18 months+ when new baby comes.

Craft fair excitement

Oh me oh my! I just found out I might be taking my stuff to a craft fair mid-April. The deadline to register is 3/29. Gotta move it!

I have to fill a 10'x10' space. I need to make more stuff!!

I'm going to try to finish my jean rag quilt, my crocheted baby blanket, some more coasters. Any other ideas for what to make? I welcome any suggestions in the crocheted or sewn home decor or baby items categories.

We are low on $$ so I've got to make everything from what I have on hand. Lucky for me I've got scraps out the wahzoo!

In particular, I have some awesome 100% soy silk yarn from my sister. I only have 1 ball, so I'll take your super snazzy suggestions for a project out of one ball (100 grams, 175 yds).

Baby Blanket or Throw?

Just started my next project even though I have a host of other started projects! I'm working on what was to be a baby blanket. As I was working, I draped the work over my lap and realized that it was so wide! So this could be a throw we are working on, we'll see. Here's a pic of the started project:

Found Treasure

I went to a "Blessingway" last night for two women from our church who are about to have babies. A "Blessingway" is a rite of passage ceremony for various stages in a woman's life (like womanhood, marriage, children) that originated with the Native Americans. We shared our experiences, advice, and encouragement for these women and had a great time doing it.

Anyway, we were supposed to find beads that represented the women so they could make bracelets. While hunting through my house for some beads, I came across some great treasures!

I found 4 original works of art I painted. I am no painter, but I think I'll list them anyway. I also found a whole box full of stuff I have knitted or crocheted that I completely forgot about! Who knew?

Little Dumpling and Block Party make their debut

I've launched my new mini-monster line. I'm waiting for some comments to see what people think. You can find them on my etsy site as the most recently listed items.

I've started a third "monster" too. It was supposed to be about the same shape as Little Dumpling, just with a bigger bottom. But it turned out wonky. So I think it's going to become a swaddled baby or a duck (like a rubber duckie). We shall see!

Little Dumpling

Little Dumpling is headed for Etsy. She can't wait! She would like your opinions on how she looks before she goes.

Color Coasters

New home decor item up.
Set of 4 patchwork quilted coasters. I have three sets each with a different backing fabric: swirly red, blue trees, or green foliage.
I love the bold colors on these.

I'm debating what to do with the rest of the fabric left over. There isn't much, but I can either make another set or make a bag to hold each of these sets. What do you think?
