They will know we are Christians by our love
I wrote a note on facebook this morning. I will repeat it here:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." ~John 13:34-35
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." ~Galatians 6:9-10
I came across a website that shows, in a collection of articles and opinions, the journey of a Christian from faith to skepticism to rejection of Christianity. I will not post the site as I do not think his message is one to share. But he does make an excellent point. He cannot accept Christianity because Christians, who are supposed representatives of Christ, do not love. And if true disciples are known by their love, there must not be any.
This breaks my heart.
And so I will now apology to many of you, mainly those that I know from high school, that I have not shown love to you. I like to argue and I like to be right and so I apology for hateful things that I have said and misrepresenting my Christ.
I cannot apologize for other "Christians," sometimes I wish the wackos would all be quiet. What I can say is that I hope and pray for a change. Starting with me. That we, my fellow followers of Christ, will show our love. That being a Christian will mean we are different. That we will start living that we are not of this world and that people would know it. That they will KNOW we are Christians by our LOVE. That they will know CHRIST by our LOVE.
I still do not agree with social justice [ie by the government and not individually and within the church] and politically I remain conservative. I cannot guarantee that I will not comment on your posts with reasons why I disagree. But I hope to do so in a spirit of love not of a sense to be right.

Playing around with switching to a blog on wordpress. I think I will be able to format my blog a little more professionally with different features that I am not able to figure out on here! I'll let you know if I decide to go with it.

Jump!
Trying to jump back into the Etsy scene after a long hiatus after the birth of my sweet "baby Hay" (as his little friends call him).
I went ahead and listed some of my Christmas themed items. Sorry that is is not even October yet, but the response has been good, so apparently people are looking already!
I was featured in another treasury, my 2nd ever, which you can find here.
Working on creating more dishcloth sets. I love cotton and dishcloths workup relatively quickly and so they satisfy my project ADD.
I'm looking into having a giveaway or contest in the near future. So check back for that!

Why hello! I've missed you.
Let's just jump in like I have been posting for the last 7 months!
My church that my family has attended for the last nearly 5 years is no more. A lot of misdirection, hurt, deception, love, growth, community I will gloss over and say that we are in the process of looking for a new church home.
Looking for a new church is hard. Meeting new people is hard. New people don't know your history and where you are coming from.
But it can also be exciting. New people don't know your history! :)
We trust that God will find the right place for us. In the meantime, we are visiting some area churches. We have visited the same church the last two weeks and are enjoying the atmosphere. I have confidence that God will direct us to where to go and I pray for His guidance for my old church friends in finding new homes.

Mommy milk: Who's telling these women they aren't enough?
"I wanted to breastfeed, but it didn't work."
"What happened?"
"I just didn't have enough milk."
I've heard this over and over again when conversing about breastfeeding. My grandmother, a college friend, a new acquaintance at a meeting. Who's telling these women they don't have enough milk?
From my experiences, we women hear from all over the place our inadequacy as moms. How many of us after marathon nursing sessions have seen family members or even strangers in the store and had them tell us, "Oh, looks like he's hungry!"?
The truth is that a very small percentage of women truly have a true insufficient milk supply. The other 34-35% of women who have perceived insufficient supply are biproducts of society, lack of information, and stress.
Things I've learned about breastfeeding:
1) Its a natural process, but it doesn't come naturally! You need to learn and thankfully your baby can still thrive while you are learning!
2) Your mind is your enemy. You have to stop thinking that you are inadequate. It will squash you and your supply.
3) You know your baby. When you are not freaking out about growth and development, you know your baby best.
4) Reading information is good. And bad. It is possible to read too much. Seek help from mommies who have breastfed and from reputable places like La Leche League and kellymom.com. BUT, all babies are different.
5) Your pediatrician most likely is schooled in formula feeding. Respect his/her knowledge in how your baby is doing, but their advice on feeding is limited with regards to breastfeeding.
6) You CAN do it.
7) Once you do it, your next children will be easier. They will be different babies, but YOU will know what you are doing.
8) Stop stressing (especially if you are repeatedly told your baby is gaining weight!). You have to take care of yourself to be able to make milk for baby.
9) With exceptions for physiological problems (like PCOS or thyroid issues), your body knows what it is doing.
10) Pumping is pumping, not the same as nursing. How much you pump is not necessarily how much milk you have.
11) Babies cry. Doesn't mean they hungry. They could have a clean diaper, be well fed and well rested and still cry. You know, they say newborns "eat, poop, sleep" but really it should be "eat, poop, sleep, and cry"
I'm sure there is much more I could say, but I want to encourage you new mommies or future mommies that breastfeeding is possible and its best for your baby. You can do it.
Let's stop telling women their babies are hungry and they don't have enough milk! Instead let's encourage each other.
**I want to say too that if you need to use formula for whatever reason: supply, stress, work, etc. It is NOT bad. Your baby will grow and be healthy and happy in your loving home.**

Napkin Ring Flower CUSTOM
I decided to make some napkin rings for no reason really. I'm at my parents house and my mom had some yellow cotton yarn so I made them in yellow. My aunt was here too and was excited because her kitchen colors are yellow. So I made 6 napkin rings and set them on the table and then thought, "wow, that looks like a flower!". So I called my sister over and we thought for a moment on how to package the rings to look like a flower. She suggested a bowl idea. Well, I ran with the idea and came up with this really cool set! This particular set went to my aunt since her birthday was yesterday, but I'm offering these to made in custom colors for your home.

An Early Christmas
Getting the jump start on Christmas. Here is one of my crochet ball cover ornaments. There are 4 total up on Etsy and I have 5 more I'm waiting to post. The pictures didn't turn out well on those 5, so I'll have to retake them. I'm having a hard time with silver thread looking gold and silver ball looking gold and red thread glowing.

Baby girl outfit
Ok, so I still need to weave in the rest of the ends, but the crocheted baby girl outfit is done!

Family Vacation
We had a whirlwind family tour these past two weeks and we really enjoyed our vacation. We went to Florida for J's grandparents 50th anniversary and visited his other grandfather as well. Then we headed up to North Carolina for a visit with my parents. They kept B while J and I had a nice 3 night trip to the beach @ Wilmington. Then back to my parents house for one more night to pick up B and on to J's parents in South Carolina where we had a goodbye party for his sister who is going to China for 2 years. We had a great time, but it sure is good to be home. Here are a few pics, we didn't take a whole lot.

updates
Well, we were rained out the first attempt at the handmade sale and ended up still making about $60 overall. We had a REDO Friday and did well, but only sold 3 handmade things I think.
We are still going though. We are planning another in October and already have one person who wants us to email her when we are having it!
In other news, we are still awaiting the word on the gender of our newest little one--we will be able to find out soon after the 4th. We tried to convince the doctor to let us find out before our upcoming trip, but he wouldn't!
We are going to be going on some much needed vacation. In addition to going to FL for Jonathan's grandparents' 50th anniversary party and SC for his sister's goodbye party (they will spend 2 years in China), we will also be going to NC to see my parents. And we will be dropping off little B with my parents and heading to Wilmington for some Mommy/Daddy alone time!
We love our little B, but we are so excited to have some much needed date and relaxation time.
Check back after our trip for pictures and an update on my little lima bean. :)
Oh, also, I have the possibility of some wholesale business coming for my Etsy site and I am really looking forward to seeing what comes of that!

It's official
Well there are two things that are official.
1) Felt the first baby "kicks"! This afternoon sitting on the couch I felt the first flutters of our precious unborn baby!

My baby is ONE!
We celebrated B's birthday last Saturday at J's parents' lake house on Lake Keowee in South Carolina. His aunts and uncles, great-grandparents, and grandparents were all there (with a few exceptions). We had a great time. We also celebrated Aunt K's high school graduations (congratulations Auntie K!).
Here are some of the cute pics--they are in reverse order, watch B get cleaner! Mommy and Daddy forgot to take pictures of opening the presents, oops! We had a Winnie-the-Pooh theme of course.
